Principal's Welcome

VISON & VALUES YANCHEP LAGOON PRIMARY SCHOOL

Learners - Respectful - Responsible - Safe

Welcome to Yanchep Lagoon Primary School, a proud Independent Public School committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for every child. Situated in one of Western Australia's fastest growing coastal communities, we are a school that values strong relationships, high expectations and a relentless focus on student growth and success.

At Yanchep Lagoon Primary School, our vision is to create:

A community where confident, curious and compassionate learners grow, belong and thrive.

This vision guides everything we do. We believe every child deserves to feel a strong sense of belonging while being challenged and supported to achieve their personal best. We work in partnership with the School Board, P&C,  families and the wider community to ensure our students develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Our school culture is underpinned by four core values:

  • Curiosity – encouraging a love of learning and a willingness to explore new ideas.
  • Honesty – building trust, integrity and personal responsibility.
  • Kindness – fostering empathy, respect and positive relationships.
  • Self-Awareness – developing resilience, reflection and confidence as learners.

These values are woven throughout our teaching, learning and interactions each day, helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where students can flourish.

We are proud of our commitment to evidence-based teaching practices. Through a strong focus on data-informed decision making, our staff continuously monitor student progress and use achievement data to tailor learning experiences that meet the needs of every learner. This ensures our teaching is responsive, targeted and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes.

Our instructional model is grounded in explicit teaching, providing students with clear learning intentions, structured lessons, guided practice and regular opportunities for feedback. Research continues to demonstrate that explicit instruction is highly effective in accelerating student achievement, and it forms the foundation of our approach to teaching and learning across the school.

To ensure consistency and excellence in every classroom, we have implemented whole-school curriculum frameworks, including our comprehensive English and Mathematics Pathway Planning Documents. These planning documents provide a clear progression of learning from Kindergarten to Year 6 and ensure every child receives a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Through these whole-school approaches, students benefit from cohesive teaching practices, aligned assessment processes and high-quality learning experiences.

We are particularly proud of our students' achievements in the 2026 NAPLAN assessments, which reflect the collective efforts of our students, staff and families.
